Writing A Thank You Letter

The purpose of a thank you letter is to say thanks to someone who has interviewed you or helped you in some way with your career development , job search , informational interviewing ( real life research ), and networking. Saying thank you to people who have helped you is one easy way of demonstrating that you have good interpersonal skills. The fact that you have taken the time and effort to say thank you will make a positive impression and will make it more likely that the person concerned will remember you.
Tips:
1. Keep your letter simple focused.
2. Single space you letter and leave a space between each paragraph.
3. Left justify your thank you letter.
4. Use a plain font like Arial, Times New Roman, or Verdana.
5. Select a font size of 10-12 points.
6. The first paragraph of your letter should thank the hiring manager for taking the time to interview you.
7. The second paragraph of your thank you letter should include the reasons why you are a strong candidate for the position.
8. If there is information about your qualifications that you wish you had mentioned during the interview, but didn't get a chance to discuss, use the next paragraph to explain.
9. In your closing paragraph, reiterate your appreciation for being considered for the job and let the hiring manager know you are looking forward to hearing from him or her soon.
10. Leave a blank line after the satuation, between each paragraph, and before the closing.
